Important life decisions have consequences that impact not only yourself but people around you. These need to be considered.
Mrs Doolan is on leave until the beginning of Term 4. If you need assistance with anything, please contact the front office and they will be able to assist you or work out who the best person to speak to will be.
Not Returning to St Mary's in 2026
If your child is not returning to St Mary's School next year could you advise Lisa in the office as soon as possible please.
Starts today! Welcome to our new families and we look forward to being able to get to know you all in the coming weeks!
These are scheduled for Week 8 for Stage 2 and Week 9 for all other classes. Check out Compass and book a time to meet with your teacher/s. If a phone call is easier, you can still book a time, let the office know your preference, and we can phone you at that time instead of meeting in person. The time allowed for these chats is only brief (10 minute time slots) and if there is anything that requires more time this can be organised at a later date.
This term Stage 1 has had the privilege of working with our prac student Miss Erin. She was in our classroom for 8 weeks and the students in Stage 1 got to explore and engage in various activities across all KLA’s with her. Below are some activities that she completed with them across her time with us.
Religion
This term Stage 1 has completed some Mary artworks and written some Mary prayers that were on display and shared at our open classroom day.
Jack
Dear Mary,
Please guide me through challenges and tough times and make sure I am safe.
Amen
Tully O
Dear Mary,
Please give hope to the people that don't have much and prayers to the people that have come from other countries because it was not safe.
Pray for those who cannot pray for themselves. Pray for those who can not worship your beautiful grace.
Amen
Dusk
Dear Mary,
Please take care of my Grandma in heaven. She was so loving and so nice and I loved her so much.
Amen
Pip
Dear Mary,
Please can you keep my brother Jack safe from riding bikes and please can you heal his sore wrist and arm.
Amen
Sport
The children have been completing a Dance Unit in sport this term and exploring different forms of movement to a range of musical pieces. Here are a few pictures of them completing an Obstacle Course, moving like particular animals in the jungle.
Science and English
In Science and English the students had to design a bridge and then write the steps they used to make the product. The students worked in pairs to create their bridge and then independently wrote their procedure. The procedure was uploaded to Seesaw and the students then recorded themselves retelling their written procedure.
What is Write A Book in a Day?
‘Write a Book in a Day is the ultimate test of teamwork, challenging writers to create something great within a 12-hour time period. Prizes and awards are up for grabs for state and national winners, while there is also a need to fundraise in the lead-up for childhood cancer research.
Teams of 5-10 participants choose any day between 1 May and 30 September to write and illustrate an entire book. Each team will be given unique parameters for their story for their chosen writing day, ensuring that no one gets a head start!
Every book submitted will also be made available for free to kids in hospitals around Australia, potentially changing a child’s day in hospital, while funds raised will work to get them out of hospital and back in the classroom sooner.’
Our wonderful St Mary’s teams have already raised almost $2000!! The Organisation is aiming for $1millon this year, and is almost there. We have until the end of September to find donations, so if you would like to contribute, contact a Year 6 parent!! Go to the website to find out how the money is distributed.
The creative sparks were flying yesterday for Write a Book in a Day with two teams entered this year. Beginning at 8am, the teams were excited to hear the parameters of each of their books. Lead by their dedicated leaders, Mrs Derrin and Miss Skye, they had the 6 Chapters and illustrations drafted before 3pm. With breaks and snacks of fruit platters and gelato, the PerfectPens and CrackerJacks were on track to have their submissions ready to submit by 8pm. What a feat! Well done Year 6 and thank you Mrs Derrin for organising such a wonderful experience.
RUOK Day is this Thursday. Take a moment to check in with those around you, including neighbours and members of your family.
Miss Tara Stokes is now in the final week of her practicum. She will make an excellent teacher, and we are very proud of her efforts over the last 4 weeks. We are looking forward to having you back in our classes in your Learning Support Role for a bit longer.
