Not Returning to St Mary's in 2025
If your child is not returning to St Mary's School next year could you advise the office as soon as possible please.
The St Mary's Public Speaking Team
Yesterday our Public Speaking Team made us proud. They presented confidently in front of a crowd of people they didn’t know. Well done Juliet, Ailidh, Solomon and Elliot. Thanks to their families who were there to watch and encourage them.
Mrs Wallace from Catholic Mission
Today Mrs Wallace came from Lismore to talk to Stage 3 about Catholic Mission in preparation for our Socktober fundraiser in October. Catholic Mission is involved mainly in development aid in countries in need. Examples of Cambodia, Turkey and The Ukraine were given.
The money from last year went towards a medical clinic in Timor Leste.
This year’s project is in Mongolia. It has some of the harshest weather in the world ranging from -40 to +40 degrees Celsius.
Casual Clothes Day this Thursday for Rewards Day!
With finals fever in the air for many winter sports, we will have casual clothes day this Thursday. The theme is Sport - come dressed as your favourite sports player, sport team or general sports wear.
Spread the word!
P&F model moving forward - Final decision to be made in person @ 16th October Meeting
This term our P&F Committee engaged in a thorough process to determine which of the two new models of parent representation available to schools in the Diocese of Lismore was appropriate for our school. During this process we had two information sessions presented to the P&F and we provided parents with the opportunity to voice their preference through a survey. Thank you to the many parents who completed it. The final decision regarding which of the two models will be adopted for our school will take place at our P&F meeting to be held at 5.00pm Wednesday October 16. All welcome to attend.
NSW Police Legacy Child Safety Handbook
The “NSW Police Legacy Child Safety Handbook” is a comprehensive and free resource to assist parents, carers as well as teachers on a range of topics essential to child safety.
This new digital edition (link here) includes important content updates from: NSW Rural Fire Service (NEW fire danger ratings), NSW Health (Water & Pool Safety), Transport NSW (School Bus Safety).
To raise awareness we are having 2 days where we all get to dress in the colour RED. These are Wednesday 16th October and Wednesday 23rd October. Dyslexia Awareness Month is held globally every October. Let’s support this and help raise awareness.
SPELD NSW also has fact sheets about Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Gysgraphia.

We have been very busy in Kindergarten and are having lots of fun. Last week we had an Alphabet Party to celebrate having learnt all of our letters. We had cupcakes with letters on top and fairy bread.
In science, together with the Year One students, we have been experimenting with different materials to discover how they can be used. We designed and made our own hats. We tested them for rain and sun protection using water and watching for shadows on our faces and shoulders outside.

It is hard to believe but our new students for 2025 have started their Kindergarten Transition Program at MARYBELLS. We have had a great start, with lots of excited and eager new members of the St Mary’s family. We have been playing inside the classroom, singing songs, reading books and doing some craft. When we played on the playground the Year 5 students who will be their big buddies next year joined us to play games of Duck, Duck Goose and What’s the time Mr Wolf?
A special thank you to all of our wonderful parents who have been so positive and supportive. This has really made a difference for the children and they seem very comfortable and happy at Big School already!
We are a Food Allergy Aware School. Your cooperation would be appreciated in talking with your children about the importance of not sharing food or putting any food items close to another child. We are requesting that families talk to students about the importance of not playing with food and sitting to eat.
